
Gov. Mai Mala Buni of Yobe has sworn in a new Grand Khadi, five Special Advisers, a Permanent Member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), and 13 Permanent Secretaries.
The swearing-in ceremony took place on Wednesday, with the governor describing the event as a significant milestone in the history of the state and the lives of the appointees.
The newly sworn-in Grand Khadi, Abba Alhaji Mamadi, was described by the governor as a seasoned jurist with vast knowledge and experience in Sharia jurisprudence, making him well-qualified for the position.
The governor also administered the oath of office to five Special Advisers: Mohammed Bazam Maidoki, Mohammed Ibrahim Jalo, Hajiya Saratu Sabo, Saleh Budde Sheriff, and Kulloma Umara Muhammed.
He described them as grassroots politicians with the capacity to deepen good governance and drive development at the community level.
Alhaji Dauda Yahaya, mni, was sworn in as Permanent Member of SUBEB, alongside the 13 newly appointed Permanent Secretaries. They are:

Gov. Buni expressed confidence in the competence of the appointees, describing them as valuable assets capable of delivering quality service in line with the administration’s vision.
He charged the new SUBEB member to support ongoing efforts in strengthening foundational education across the state, noting that Yobe had received commendation from the Federal Ministry of Education for its leadership in basic education among sub-national governments.
“Our administration remains committed to the timely payment of counterpart funds to the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), which has enabled us to access matching grants for infrastructure and learning materials,” Buni said.
He added that similar commitments have been made to the school feeding programme, provision of instructional materials, and payment of examination fees.
The governor advised all appointees to embrace due process, introduce innovative ideas, and ensure efficient service delivery across their respective sectors.
“Government will continue to equip and reposition the public service to respond to the demands of our development agenda,” he said.
