The Adamawa State Government has approved projects worth over N26 billion aimed at improving road infrastructure, agriculture, and essential public services across the state.
The approvals were made during the State Executive Council meeting held on Thursday at the new Council Chamber, Government House, Yola, and presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, said the council approved N3.89 billion for the construction of the 11.2-kilometre Plum Road in Michika Local Government Area.
He added that N6.59 billion was approved for additional asphalt overlay on the Mubi–Garta–Kamale Road, extending the total length to 17.5 kilometres.
According to the commissioner, the council also approved:
N4.43 billion for additional asphalt overlay on the 14-kilometre Sukur Road in Madagali;
N3.24 billion for asphalt surfacing of the 10.3-kilometre Kishinga Road.
“These projects are designed to boost road connectivity and enhance socio-economic development in the benefiting communities,” Iliya said.
In the agricultural sector, the council approved N1.5 billion for the procurement of NPK fertilizer to support dry season farming and N1.73 billion for the purchase of 22 Massey Ferguson tractors and accessories.
The Commissioner further announced the approval of N460 million for the accreditation of nine academic programmes at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Ganye.
In the health sector, N256 million was approved as 20 percent counterpart funding for the 2025 Basic Health Care Provision Fund.
Also approved was N235.6 million as compensation for land acquired for the Federal University of Agriculture, Mubi.
Other approvals include:
N481 million for the upgrade of the Jada water supply scheme;
N328.5 million for the procurement of a modern road sweeping truck to enhance environmental sanitation.
Iliya stated that the approvals reflect the administration’s commitment to infrastructure development, agricultural transformation, and improved service delivery for the people of Adamawa State.
