Suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, has been released from detention after spending 27 months in prison. He was welcomed back by his family members with a warm reception at his residence.
Kyari was arrested on February 14, 2022, by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) over alleged links to an international drug cartel.
He was arraigned on March 7, 2024, alongside four members of the Police Intelligence Response Team.
Photos circulating on social media show Kyari reunited with his family, with a “Welcome back” design on the wall. The warm reception marks the end of his lengthy detention at the Kuje Custodial Centre in the Federal Capital Territory.
