The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Adamawa State has inaugurated its newly elected Executive Council members, who will pilot the affairs of the Christian body for the next five years.
The ceremony took place at St. Monica Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria (LCCN) in Jimeta Yola on Thursday, and was attended by top government officials, traditional rulers, and members of the Christian body from different denominations across the state.
The new Executive Council members include:
– Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo as Chairman
– Rev. Dr. Victor Saje as Vice Chairman
– Rev. Emeka Obionyo as Secretary
– Rev. Gambo Bupwada as Assistant Secretary
– Rev. Dr. Malacy Wache as Treasurer
Additionally, departmental sub-heads of the association were also inaugurated, including:
– Barr. Victor Eze as Director, Legal and Public Affairs
– Apostle Dr. Rufus as Director, Ecumenism and Inter-Faith
– Pastor Ishaku Shehu as Director, State Issues and Welfare
– Evangelist Haruna Donge as Director, Planning, Research and Strategy
– David Simon Dzalla as Director of Education, Women and Youth
In his remarks, the National President of the Association, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, represented by the National Secretary, Prof. Samson Fatokun, expressed confidence in the new CAN Executive and urged them to be just and fair in discharging their duties.
He commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his equal treatment of religious bodies in the state and advised the new CAN leadership to act accordingly.
The Adamawa State Deputy Governor, Prof. Kaletapwa George Farauta, represented by the State Commissioner of Women Affairs, Wunfe Anthony, called on religious leaders to continue promoting peaceful coexistence, while the government will provide necessary support to the new CAN Executive to succeed.
She commended the association’s past leaders for discharging their duties effectively and assured that the government will continue to ensure unity and peaceful coexistence in the state.
The new State CAN Chairman, Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, called on people of the state to live in peace with one another.
He pledged commitment to consolidating on the legacies of the immediate past president of the association in the state, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, and called for more support and prayers for the new CAN Executive to succeed.
