Adamawa College of Agriculture Receives N460m Boost for Programme Accreditation

The Adamawa State Government has approved the release of ₦460 million to the Adamawa State College of Agriculture, Science and Technology (COAST), Ganye, to support the accreditation of nine academic programmes.

The approval, according to government sources, is part of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s ongoing efforts to enhance tertiary education and promote agricultural innovation across the state.

The fund is aimed at meeting the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) accreditation standards, upgrading laboratories and classrooms, and improving the quality of teaching, learning, and research in the institution.

A statement from the state Ministry of Education said the intervention would ensure that the college produces graduates who are nationally competitive and equipped with modern agricultural and technological skills.

“This administration places a high premium on education as a tool for development. By investing in COAST Ganye, we are strengthening agricultural training and preparing our youths to drive the state’s economic transformation,” the statement read.

The college, established to foster agricultural productivity and research, is expected to use the funds to procure equipment, rehabilitate facilities, and enhance academic staff capacity in line with NBTE requirements.

The initiative also aligns with the Fintiri administration’s broader development plan, which prioritises human capital development, agricultural modernization, and youth empowerment through technical education.

Observers say the move positions COAST Ganye as one of the leading agricultural institutions in Northern Nigeria, capable of supporting innovation and food security through science-based agricultural practices.

The state government has in recent months also rolled out interventions in the agricultural sector, including the provision of tractors and fertilizer support for dry-season farming.

Governor Fintiri reiterated his administration’s resolve to continue investing in education, saying it remains the cornerstone of sustainable growth and poverty reduction.

He commended the management of COAST Ganye for its commitment to academic excellence and urged them to ensure prudent use of the funds to achieve full accreditation status for all targeted programmes.
