
The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved projects worth over ₦30 billion in infrastructure, education, broadcasting, recreation and human capital development.
The approvals were granted at the council’s 15th meeting presided over by Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Monday in Yola.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, said the council approved ₦21.8 billion for additional works on the Adamawa Super Highway, stretching from Welcome to Yola through Rumde Kila to AA Lawal Junction.
He said ₦2.4 billion was also approved for the construction of internal roads at the Army Barracks, while ₦184.2 million was earmarked for the rehabilitation of studio complexes and the installation of new FM and AM transmitters at the Adamawa Broadcasting Corporation, Yola, including the Mambamba booster station.
According to him, the council endorsed ₦4.5 billion for overseas scholarships for 100 postgraduate students and ₦395 million for the purchase of assorted science textbooks for secondary schools across the state.
Other approvals include ₦1.6 billion for the rehabilitation of the NYSC Orientation Camp gate–Borong Road in Girei/Demsa axis, and the construction of a modern Adamawa State Amusement Park in Yola North to boost recreation and tourism.
Iliya said the projects reflect government’s commitment to balanced development, covering infrastructure, education, youth empowerment, and security welfare.
The Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Garba Umar Pella, said the procurement of science textbooks would revive reading culture in line with global best practices.
Similarly, the Commissioner for Works and Energy Development, Mr. Adamu Atiku Abubakar, explained that the road projects were part of Fintiri’s campaign promises.
Also, the Commissioners of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr. Titus Solomon, and Culture and Tourism, Mr. Aloysius Babadoke, highlighted projects under their ministries, noting that they align with the administration’s drive for all-round development.
