The Adamawa State Government, in partnership with the African Union Development Agency (AUDA-NEPAD), has launched a comprehensive agricultural program aimed at boosting the sector through modern farming techniques.
The program, which has reached 85% implementation, has trained farmers and extension workers across the three senatorial zones of the state.
According to the State Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD, Yahaya Ahmad Iya, the program was made possible through the approval and release of funds by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri as part of the counter-part agreement. Iya commended the Governor for his support and cooperation, which has enabled the agency to discharge its duties without hindrance.
The program has implemented various activities, including capacity building for youth farmers across 21 local government areas on the use of technology in crop production, and the mounting of drip irrigation facilities at the AUDA-NEPAD COBESAS implementing institutions.
The partnership between the Adamawa State Government and AUDA-NEPAD is expected to significantly improve agricultural productivity and enhance the livelihoods of farmers in the state.
The program’s focus on modern farming techniques and technology is expected to increase crop yields and promote sustainable agriculture practices.
