The Adamawa State Government, under the leadership of Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, is set to establish Independent Power Plants (IPPs) across the state.
This development follows the successful second reading of a bill to establish the Adamawa State Electricity Commission at the State House of Assembly. The commission will be tasked with regulating the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity within the state.
Speaking during the plenary, Speaker of the Assembly, Mr. Bathiya Wesley, described the bill as a significant step towards addressing the state’s electricity challenges.
“The creation of this commission will not only provide sustainable power solutions but also promote economic growth by attracting industries and creating jobs,” he said.
According to Gov. Fintiri, the initiative aligns with his administration’s commitment to infrastructural development and economic revitalization. He noted that the proposed IPPs would provide a reliable power supply to complement the national grid, thus enhancing productivity in the state.
