The Adamawa State Government has earmarked ₦40.63 billion for the education sector in its 2026 budget, underscoring the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s commitment to providing quality and inclusive education across the state.
The allocation is expected to stimulate significant improvements in the sector, with provisions for the construction of new schools as well as the rehabilitation and maintenance of existing educational facilities. A substantial portion of the budget will also focus on improving teachers’ welfare and strengthening capacity development through enhanced incentives, training, and professional development programmes designed to raise teaching standards and improve learning outcomes.
In line with its human capital development agenda, the state government plans to expand access to education by offering both local and foreign scholarships to support students across various categories.
Government officials noted that the 2026 education budget will fund additional programmes and projects targeted at strengthening the sector, closing learning gaps, and equipping students with skills relevant to social and economic development.
The Adamawa State Government reiterated that sustained investment in education remains a top priority, describing the sector as a critical driver of growth and long-term development in the state.
