Adamawa Govt Approves N22.8bn Budget Viament for Infrastructure, Youth and Water Projects

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved a budget viament of N22.8 billion within the state’s existing N486.2 billion 2025 budget to accelerate critical infrastructure, social services, and youth development projects.

The approval was announced by the Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Emmanuel Pridimso, shortly after the Council meeting chaired by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola on Wednesday.

Pridimso said the internal reallocation became necessary to address rising costs and depleted funds across various ministries.

“We are witnessing significant inflationary pressures, and this viament is essential to avoid disruption of ongoing government activities,” he stated.

Out of the approved N22.8 billion, N8 billion will cover recurrent expenditure such as salaries and overhead costs, while the remaining N14.8 billion is earmarked for capital projects with long-term impact.

Some of the key projects to benefit from the reallocation include:

Construction of a new NYSC Orientation Camp – N2.04 billion

Upgrade of Amusement Park – N3.4 billion

Maiha–Mubi Road rehabilitation – N3 billion

Construction of Mubi Bypass Road – N1.2 billion

Government House renovation – N800 million

High Court consultancy services – N500 million

Purchase of a new generator for Government House – N650 million

Pridimso clarified that the viament is not an increase in the state’s budget but a consolidation of all reallocations made since January 2025, which will now be reflected in the revised budget document for transparency.

“This is a reshuffling within the existing budget envelope of N486.2 billion. It allows us to meet urgent and emerging priorities,” he said.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Ayuba Audu, revealed that N360 million was allocated for the upgrade of the Gulak Water Scheme in Madagali Local Government Area.

He said the project will cover over 12.4 kilometers of new pipelines to improve access to clean water, adding that similar water projects are ongoing in 17 local government areas across the state.

In another development, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Neido Geoffrey, disclosed the state’s intervention in the safe return and rehabilitation of 13 trafficked children recently rescued from Anambra State.

“These children have been brought back home safely. We are working closely with security and welfare agencies to ensure they are properly rehabilitated,” she said.

She urged parents and guardians to be more vigilant and avoid exposing children to risky situations.

“Human trafficking is a real and persistent threat. We call on communities to help protect our children,” Geoffrey added.

The Council reaffirmed its commitment to responsive governance and addressing the pressing needs of citizens across the state.
