Adamawa Govt Approves N338m Compensation for Market Site, N280m for Digitisation

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved N338 million as compensation for landowners affected by the acquisition of land for the construction of a new building materials market along Numan Road, Yola.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Iliya James, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the council meeting held on Thursday at the Government House, Yola.

The meeting was presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

James said the council also approved over N280 million for the digitisation of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), including the Cabinet Affairs Office and the Political Department.

He said the contract for the digitisation project was awarded to Albashir Nigeria Ltd. as part of the government’s e-governance reforms aimed at improving efficiency in service delivery.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Land and Survey, Mr George Sama, said the new market would be relocated from Hospital Road to the Yola-Numan Road corridor.

He explained that the relocation was part of the government’s urban renewal initiative designed to improve the city’s aesthetics and functionality.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Dr Ahmed Hammajam, said the digitisation project would enhance smooth operations and modernise administrative processes in the affected offices.
