Adamawa Govt Approves N5.9bn Gombi–Ngada Bridges, Other Key Projects

The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved the construction of two strategic bridges along the Gombi–Ngada Road at a total cost of N5.9 billion. The approval was granted during the council’s 25th meeting of 2025, presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Wednesday at the Government House, Yola.

Briefing journalists after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, said the projects form part of the state government’s efforts to improve road connectivity, enhance transportation, and boost economic activities across rural communities.

According to him, the council also approved the construction of perimeter fences and gatehouses for the six newly created chiefdoms and emirates. The initiative, aimed at strengthening security and providing befitting administrative structures, was awarded to six contractors at a total cost of N3.032 billion.

In addition, Mr. Iliya announced the approval for the construction and completion of key urban roads within Yola. These include the one-kilometre Sarki Kano Aliyu Road in Yola Town and the 2.40km Weekly Scope Road extension, which will feature 700 metres of stormwater drainage. The combined cost of the urban road projects stands at N3.4 billion.

The commissioner noted that the approvals reflect the Fintiri administration’s commitment to infrastructure expansion and the provision of essential public amenities across the state.
