The Adamawa Government has commenced a comprehensive verification exercise for pensioners across the state to enhance transparency and ensure timely payment of entitlements.
The Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Pension Board, Mr Ibrahim V. Abba, disclosed this in Yola on Wednesday while monitoring the exercise.
He said the initiative was aimed at updating the records of pensioners to ensure that only genuine retirees receive their entitlements.
Abba commended Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his support and described the governor’s commitment to pension reforms as a “giant stride” toward addressing the challenges faced by retirees.
“This is a routine but vital procedure. It is not to witch-hunt anyone, but to ensure that only genuine pensioners receive what is rightfully theirs,” he said.
He urged all pensioners to cooperate with the officials handling the verification process and assured them that adequate arrangements had been made to ensure a smooth and stress-free exercise.
The chairman said the verification would boost confidence in the pension system and improve the efficiency of payment disbursements in the state.
