Adamawa Govt Flags Off N584m Reconstruction of Mubi, Numan Zonal Libraries

The Adamawa State Government has approved the reconstruction of the Mubi and Numan Zonal Libraries as part of a major effort to revive the long-neglected Adamawa State Library Board.

The announcement was made on Thursday by the Chairman of the Library Board and Special Adviser to the Governor on Communication, Research and Documentation, Dr. Akeweta Emmanuel.

According to Emmanuel, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has awarded the first phase of the Board’s revitalisation project, valued at ₦584,371,409.67, marking what he described as a “bold and historic step” toward strengthening learning and research across the state.

The project is expected to overhaul the two zonal libraries and convert them into fully functional, ICT-enabled knowledge centres accessible to students, researchers, and the general public. The contractor is scheduled to complete the work within six months.

“The approval underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to education, knowledge development, and the creation of modern learning spaces,” Emmanuel said.

He added that the intervention signals a renewed focus on upgrading educational infrastructure and ensuring that public libraries regain their role as hubs of information and innovation in Adamawa State.

Under Governor Fintiri, the state has embarked on what officials describe as a renaissance in the education sector, with renewed investments in schools, digital learning, and research support facilities.

Further phases of the Adamawa State Library Board’s revitalisation are expected to follow after the completion of the zonal libraries in Mubi and Numan.
