Adamawa Govt Postpones School Resumption Due To Measles Outbreak

The Adamawa State Government has announced the postponement of school resumption for the third term, citing a measles outbreak in some local government areas of the state.

In a circular dated May 6, 2024, the state Ministry of Education and Human Capital Development stated that the resumption date, initially scheduled for May 6, has been pushed back to May 13, 2024.

According to the circular, signed by Permanent Secretary Aisha Umar, the postponement aims to contain the spread of the disease and allow the Primary Health Care Agency to vaccinate vulnerable children.

The circular directed all public and private schools to close down until the new resumption date, affecting both primary and secondary schools.

This measure is part of the state government’s efforts to prioritize the health and safety of students and prevent further spread of the measles outbreak.
