Adamawa: Hong People Vow To Resist Boko Haram Attacks

The paramount ruler of Hong in Adamawa, Tol Huba Alheri Bulus Nyako, says the people of Hong Local Government Area have resolved to resist further attacks by Boko Haram insurgents.

Nyako stated this on Sunday when he addressed journalists at his palace in Hong, following recent security concerns in the area.

He said the people had come to the conclusion that fleeing from insurgents had not helped and would no longer be an option.

“We have sent signals to the insurgents that Hong LGA is now a no-go area,” he said.

The royal father recalled the 2023 attack in which 53 persons were abducted, with 40 still missing, stressing that such an incident would not be allowed to recur.

He said his community had improved its level of mobilisation and would continue to collaborate with security agencies to safeguard the area.

“We have resolved not to run away from insurgents anymore. We will stand our ground. Historically, we are warriors and we intend to defend that legacy,” Nyako said.

He was installed as the Tol Huba of Hong in February 2025.

His position aligns with the views of security experts who believe that community-led resistance has helped weaken insurgents in parts of the North-East.
