Adamawa Launches Free Hypertension, Diabetes Screening for 230,435 Residents

The Adamawa State Government has commenced a statewide hypertension and diabetes screening exercise targeting 230,435 residents.

Deputy Governor Kaletapwa Farauta inaugurated the exercise on Monday in Yola, saying it was part of the “Project 10 Million” aimed at Nigerians nationwide.

Farauta explained that those tested positive would receive one-year free treatment under the Adamawa State Contributory Health Management Agency (ASCHMA).

“The campaign will reach every local government area, from urban centers to remote villages, ensuring equal access to health services,” she said.

Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Mr. Felix Tangwami, said the exercise aimed to enhance equitable access to health services for all citizens.

Executive Chairman, Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, assured that the agency would link those screened positive with other agencies for care.

The exercise will be conducted at 670 primary health care facilities across 21 local government areas.
