Adamawa Mass Cattle Vaccination Begins After Taraba Disease Outbreak

The Adamawa State Government has commenced a mass vaccination exercise for cattle in several local government areas following a disease outbreak in neighboring Taraba State that killed over 1,000 cows.

The exercise, which began at the weekend, targets LGAs sharing borderlines with Taraba State and Cameroon Republic.

Commissioner for Livestock and Aquaculture, Tijjani Marksha, led a delegation of officials and veterinary doctors for the flag-off in Mayo Belwa LGA.

The disease, hemorrhagic septicemia, has spread to other LGAs in Taraba State, prompting the Adamawa State Government to take proactive measures.

Director of State Veterinary Services, Dr. Berthilimous Nyalas, listed the targeted LGAs for the first phase of the vaccination as Numan, Demsa, Lamurde, Toungo, Fufore, Maiha, Mubi North, Mubi South, and Mayo Belwa.
