The Adamawa State delegation to the 2024 Christian pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan has declared the journey a historic success, with zero cases of abscondment and seamless coordination throughout the trip.
Presenting the official report to Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri on Thursday at Government House, Yola, the leader of the delegation, HRH Murum Mbula Bwaltam Bentley Biyapo, commended the administration for its unwavering commitment to religious harmony and spiritual development.
He described the pilgrimage as one of the most efficiently organized in recent years, attributing the success to the government’s proactive planning, timely interventions, and strong logistical support.
Biyapo acknowledged the dedication of board officials, security personnel, and ground handlers, whose efforts ensured a smooth and fulfilling experience for all pilgrims.
He highlighted key areas for improvement, including stricter oversight on visa approvals to prevent irregularities and the introduction of a guarantor’s fee to deter defection. He also recommended that elderly individuals above 70 years reconsider embarking on such journeys due to potential health risks.
In his response, Fintiri expressed gratitude for the delegation’s diligence and success, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to fostering religious inclusivity and ensuring balanced representation of all faiths in governance.
“Adamawa State remains a beacon of religious tolerance and unity, and we will continue to support initiatives that strengthen our moral and spiritual fabric,” he said.
The governor also assured that his administration would review the delegation’s recommendations to enhance future pilgrimages, reinforcing Adamawa’s reputation as a model for well-coordinated religious exercises.
