The Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday arraigned 20-year-old Jamila Ishaku before Chief Magistrate Court 2 for allegedly scalding her pregnant sister-in-law with hot water.
According to reports, the incident occurred following a heated argument between the two at their residence in Dubeli ward, Yola North Local Government Area, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025.
Speaking on the matter, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, confirmed the incident, stating that the victim sustained severe burns and was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
Nguroje urged the public to seek peaceful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence. He further advised individuals to report grievances to the nearest police station for lawful resolution.
Meanwhile, the court has ordered Ishaku to be remanded in custody while the case is adjourned for further hearing.
