The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 71-year-old man, Jeriel Clifford Peter, for allegedly killing his 67-year-old wife, Miltha Jeriel, following a domestic dispute in Demsa Local Government Area of the state.

A statement issued on Saturday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said the suspect was apprehended on Nov. 4, 2025, after reportedly attacking his wife with a knife and axe.

According to the statement, the incident occurred on Nov. 6, 2025, after a misunderstanding between the couple at a beer parlour escalated into violence.

“The suspect attacked and stabbed the victim multiple times all over her body with a knife and axe,” the statement read.

Nguroje said police operatives, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Demsa Division, swiftly responded to a distress call from the area. The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was confirmed dead while receiving treatment.

The statement added that the suspect had been taken into custody, and the weapons used in the crime were recovered.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, condemned the incident and directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yola, to take over the case for a thorough investigation and ensure diligent prosecution.

He further warned against all forms of domestic violence, urging residents to adopt peaceful means in resolving conflicts.
