The Adamawa State Police Command has officially verified the loss of three lives following a clash between two communities in the region.
The conflict erupted between the Selti and Kpasham villages situated in the Numan and Demsa local government areas, as disclosed by the police on Wednesday.
In response to the reported communal violence resulting in the fatalities, Commissioner of Police CP Dankombo Morris personally led a team of law enforcement officers to the affected areas, conducted patrols, assessed the situation, and promptly restored order, according to a press statement issued by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje.
The police command affirmed that ongoing investigations are in progress to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence, including any collaborators involved in the incident.
Emphasizing a commitment to upholding justice, the command reiterated its stance against individuals resorting to unlawful actions, stating its resolve to ensure the prosecution of offenders involved in the clash.
The authorities emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards vigilantism and unauthorized acts of violence, underscoring the importance of maintaining peace and order within the community.
