Police in Adamawa have apprehended the armed robbers that attacked the commissioner of environment and natural resources development, Mohammed Abubakar Sadiq Wali
The Adamawa state cabinet member was attacked at his Chiroma street, Yola ancient city residence on Sunday night and took away his Hilux vehicle among other valuable items after having inflicted injuries on him.
The press release Monday, issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje revealed that “the operational strategy introduced by Adamawa State Police Command to checkmate the criminal activities such as Armed Robbery, Shilla Gangsterism and Kidnapping amongst others within the state capital has yielded a positive result as a syndicate of Four have been apprehended.
“The Suspects; Mustapha Muhammed 47 years old resident of Lelewalji, Girei local government area, Isa Adamu 55 years old resident of Tudun Wada are of Sokoto State, Salihu Buhari 38 years old resident of Garwa, Cameroon Republic and Abdullahi Abubakar 35 years old also, a resident of Garwa, were arrested on the February, 12, 2024, by a combined team of police operatives attached to Girei Divisional Police Headquarters, after attacking the House of Hon. Bala Kalu Muhammed Sadiq Wali, Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Environment, Adamawa State, robbed him of his Toyota Hilux and other valuable items.
“Interestingly, all the items stolen from the Victim’s residence were recovered. The Suspects will be Prosecuted in accordance with the Extant Laws.
Meanwhile, Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has alleged that some persons in the state are sponsoring criminals to unleash mayhem and upturn the existing peace in the state.
Fintiri in a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr Humwashi Wonosikou stated that “Government will not stand by and watch hoodlums and their sponsors incite citizens to take the Law into their hands.
“There’s credible intelligence about some youths who are gearing up to break into Government and private warehouses in the State, noting that his Government will deal firmly with those out to threaten citizens over their personal interest.
“Why they are refusing to utilise available channels to address their concerns instead of planning to engage in acts of sabotage,” Fintiri queried.
