The Adamawa State Executive Council held its fifth meeting in 2024, during which they approved a sum of 18.8 billion naira for additional work required on the superhighway extending from FGGC Yola to AA Lawan junction through Rumde Kila.
The emergency meeting, presided over by the President of the Council, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, took place at the Council Chamber of Government House, on Monday, in Yola. The council also approved over 4 billion naira for the completion of the Jimeta permanent stadium.
After the emergency meeting, the commissioner of information and strategy, Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kufoltu, briefed journalists and explained that the council approved 18.8 billion naira due to an increase in the scope of work on the ongoing superhighway, bringing the new contract sum to 40.6 billion naira.
The council also approved the formal handover of the Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) of the Federal Medical Centre, Hong, to the Federal Ministry of Health, to ensure the proper take-off of the facility in the overall interest of the citizens.
In keeping with one of its agendas, the council approved over 4.7 billion nairas for the completion of the ultra-modern stadium, owing to the Fintiri-led administration’s commitment to unify youths, promote peaceful coexistence, and reduce youth restiveness.
Furthermore, the council approved the payment of a grant of 450 million naira as counterpart funding for the global fund, which will attract 15 billion naira for more support and empowerment to service 270 thousand of women in the state.
The commissioner of budget and planning, Emmanuel Piridimso, also stated that the council approved 18.2 billion naira against the 2023 fiscal year to ensure budget discipline. This will help MDAs work within their budget, except when a supplementary budget is required. The council closed that budget year, hoping for a more successful fiscal year.
