The Adamawa State Government has begun paying the N70,000 minimum wage to its workers, fulfilling a promise made by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri.
Civil servants confirmed receiving the new salary structure, with Amos Tumba stating, “I can confirm that the salary increase has been effected and I received it.”
Another government worker, Amma Yohanna, also confirmed receiving the new package.
The payment commenced on August 23, the usual payday for state government workers.
Governor Fintiri had assured labour leaders on August 19 that the new minimum wage would take effect this month, while local government workers would receive it in September.
