Adamawa Varsity Dismisses Three Academic Staff Over Plagiarism And Misconduct

In a move to uphold academic integrity, the management of Modibbo Adama University (MAU) has dismissed three academic staff members due to plagiarism and other misconducts.

This decision was announced by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Abdullahi Liman Tukur, during a pre-convocation press briefing on Wednesday.

According to Prof. Tukur, an internal investigative panel set up by the University council found the three professors guilty of the offenses. The panel’s findings led to the dismissal of the academic staff members, effective immediately.

The announcement came ahead of the University’s 28th convocation ceremony, scheduled for Saturday, May 4th, 2024, to honor graduating students of the 2022/2023 academic session.

“The academicians were found guilty by an internal investigative panel set up by the University council stressing that  stiff measures awaits any erring staff and student who may want to breach the rules and regulations guiding the institution,“ he said.

Prof. Tukur, announced that the forthcoming convocation ceremony would be the last under his leadership as VC with the expiration of a five-year tenure and urged the federal government to review the Treasury Single Account (TSA) policy describing it as a huge challenge militating against operations of public Universities in the country.
