Adamawa Varsity Gets New Vice Chancellor

Professor Ibrahim Umar has been named as the Vice Chancellor of the Modibbo Adama University, MAU, Yola.

A statement released Wednesday said the Governing Council of the university held its 17th Special Meeting earlier in the day, considered the report of the selection board for the appointment of vice chancellor, and approved Umar’s appointment.

He is the 9th substantive vice chancellor of the university.

The statement, signed by the university’s Information and Protocol Officer, Aminu Gurumpawo, said Umar’s appointment was announced by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Governing Council of the MAU Yola, Mahmud Aliyu Shinkafi at the end of the Governing Council meeting.

Umar, who hails from Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State, is a Professor of Crop Protection.

“He will serve a single term of five years with effect from the date of his appointment,” the statement said.
