Alumni Renovate Lecture Theatres at Adamawa Varsity

The Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University (MAU), Yola, Professor Ibrahim Umar, has commissioned the newly renovated Lecture Theatres I and II, refurbished through the collective efforts of the university’s Class of 2005 alumni.

The colourful commissioning ceremony, held on campus, attracted a large turnout of staff, students, alumni, and well-wishers, who gathered to celebrate what many described as a landmark gesture of commitment and gratitude to the institution.

Speaking at the event, Professor Umar commended the alumni for returning to invest in the university that shaped their academic and professional journeys. He noted that the renovated lecture theatres would significantly enhance the learning environment and further support the university’s drive towards academic excellence.

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that the university deeply cherishes such interventions, stressing that strong partnerships with alumni are critical to strengthening institutional infrastructure and advancing its academic mission. He urged other graduating sets to emulate the Class of 2005 by supporting initiatives that improve students’ academic experiences.

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Class of 2005, Engr. Zubairu Usman Gatugel, who spoke on behalf of his colleagues, expressed profound gratitude to the university for the opportunity to contribute to its development. He described the project as a modest way of giving back to their alma mater, which laid the foundation for their future success.

Engr. Gatugel explained that members of the Class of 2005 were motivated to restore the lecture theatres to their former glory to ensure that current and future students benefit from a more conducive learning environment.

Professor Umar formally commissioned the facilities after delivering a brief message in which he encouraged both staff and students to safeguard and make optimal use of the upgraded spaces. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to fostering excellence, innovation, and collaboration across the university community.
