The Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr Ali Bukar Dalori, on Saturday received a large number of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Northern Borno.
The defectors were led by Hon. Isa Lawan (Kangar), a former member of the House of Representatives and PDP senatorial candidate in the 2023 general election.
Dalori received the new members in the company of the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly, the APC State Chairman, and other notable leaders of the party in the state.
He said the decision of the defectors to join the ruling party was a demonstration of confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum.
Dalori assured the new members of equal opportunities and a level playing ground within the APC, stressing that the party remained the only progressive platform that guarantees development, unity, and prosperity for the people of Borno and Nigeria.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Borno State House of Assembly and the APC State Chairman commended the courage of the defectors, noting that their decision further strengthened the grassroots structure of the APC in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Lawan said their defection was based on conviction that the APC represents the hope and aspirations of the people through good governance, inclusiveness, and sustainable development.
With the development, the APC in Borno North has further broadened its base and reinforced its position ahead of future political contests.
