The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed July 24, 2025, for its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting to nominate a new substantive National Chairman following the resignation of Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje.
This was disclosed on Monday after an emergency session of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking after the meeting, the Deputy National Secretary of the party, Mr. Festus Fuanter, confirmed that formal notification of the NEC meeting has been sent to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in line with the party’s constitution and electoral guidelines.
Meanwhile, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, who until now was the Deputy National Chairman (North), formally assumed office on Monday as Acting National Chairman of the APC.
Dalori takes over leadership following Ganduje’s resignation. Ganduje, who hails from the North-West zone, assumed office as APC National Chairman in August 2023 after the resignation of Senator Abdullahi Adamu of the North-Central zone.
In his remarks, Dalori pledged to lead with transparency, inclusiveness, and a strong commitment to party unity.
“I am fully committed to steering the affairs of our great party with discipline, openness, and collective responsibility,” he said, calling on all NEC members to prioritise the unity and progress of the party.
Dalori further urged party stakeholders to work together to strengthen internal democracy and deliver effective governance to Nigerians.
The upcoming NEC meeting is expected to draw participation from party leaders, state governors, and other stakeholders to determine the future leadership structure of the ruling party.
