The Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria (APPON) has commended Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno for what it described as visionary and transparent leadership.
The commendation followed an inspection tour of key infrastructural projects on Friday being executed under the Zulum administration by APPON delegates, who were in Maiduguri for their week-long national conference.
Led by the National President, Dr James Amem Kanico, and accompanied by the Director-General of the Borno State Bureau of Public Procurement, Engr Musa Mustapha, the team visited the Borno State Teaching Hospital (under construction), the Trailer Park, the Mai Mala Buni 500 Housing Estate, and the Kashim Shettima Housing Estate.
Other facilities inspected included the Kashim Shettima Secondary School in Mari, the Mai Musari Junior and Primary School, and newly completed township roads.
Kanico said the delegation was impressed by the scale and quality of the projects, describing them as a demonstration of responsible governance and prudent use of public funds.
“Today, we have seen with our own eyes the transformation that Gov. Zulum is bringing to Borno. These are tangible structures that will serve the people for decades,” he said.
Some APPON members described Zulum as “the most accountable governor in Nigeria,” while others praised his courage and sincerity in deploying public resources.
Mrs Halima Garba, a member of the delegation, said the projects reflected effective use of taxpayers’ money to provide schools, hospitals, roads and housing for the people.
