
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID) chapter, has confirmed the safe release of its Yola Zone Coordinator, Professor Dani Mamman.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Chairperson of ASUU UNIMAID, Comrade Mohammed Sadisu Waziri, the union said Prof. Mamman regained his freedom on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2025.
According to the statement, the senior academic is currently in Abuja, where he is receiving necessary medical attention and undergoing relevant official procedures.
“Prof. Dani Mamman is in sound and stable health, full of strength and courage, and he shall, by the grace of God, soon rejoin us to continue with our collective struggle,” the statement read.
The union expressed profound appreciation to the University of Maiduguri management, ASUU members, and the entire university community for their prayers, solidarity, concern and support throughout the period of his ordeal.
ASUU described the display of unity and love by members of the university community as a source of strength during what it called a trying time.
The statement concluded with the union’s traditional slogan: “Aluta Continua! Victoria Ascerta!”
