The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria Branch, has directed its members to withdraw from lectures over the persistent delay in the payment of salaries.
The directive was contained in a resolution issued by the union and signed by its Secretary, Mr Hassan Bala, dated March 3, 2026.
The branch, in the resolution, reminded members of an earlier congress decision held on May 28, 2025, which aligned with the National Executive Council (NEC) resolution on salary delays.
According to the union, whenever salaries are not paid after the third day of a new month, members are to withdraw their services until payment is made.
“Members are hereby reminded that Congress resolved, in line with NEC resolution, that whenever salaries are not paid after the third day of a new month, members should withdraw from lectures until payment is made,” the statement read.
The union consequently called on its members to stay away from classes forthwith until outstanding salaries are paid.
The development may affect academic activities at Ahmadu Bello University if the situation persists.
