Members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have refrained from speaking publicly on the ongoing renegotiation with the Federal Government as the process reaches its final stage today.
The silence follows restrictions placed on media engagement during the negotiation process, which resumed on Monday under the leadership of the Yayale Ahmed committee.
A senior member of ASUU’s National Executive Council said the committee handling the talks instructed all parties to limit media interaction until the renegotiation is formally concluded.
“The meeting started on Monday and will end today. After that, NEC will meet on Wednesday to determine our next steps. Everyone will know the outcome then,” the official said.
ASUU issued a one-month ultimatum to the government, which expired on Saturday, over unresolved issues including the 2009 agreement, earned allowances, revitalisation funding and withheld salaries.
