Babangida Refutes Report on Rejection of Tinubu’s Appointment

Muhammed Babangida has formally accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA), expressing profound appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the confidence reposed in him.

In a statement issued on Monday, Babangida dismissed online reports suggesting he had rejected the appointment, describing them as false, misleading, and aimed at discrediting the Tinubu administration.

“We wish to clarify that Muhammed gratefully accepts the appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government, and extends his sincere appreciation to President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him,” the statement read in part.

He further assured the public of his commitment to the responsibilities ahead, adding that those behind the fake news would be identified and held accountable.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” the statement added.

Babangida urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify information from credible sources before drawing conclusions.

His appointment was among a series of recent strategic appointments made by President Tinubu aimed at strengthening leadership across key government institutions.
