The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has cautioned loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, against setting fresh conditions ahead of the party’s national convention.
The caution followed a list of demands issued by a group loyal to Wike under the banner of Eminent Leaders and Concerned Stakeholders of the PDP.
The group had urged the party to maintain the zoning arrangement of the 2021 convention, insisting that the office of the national chairman remain in the North-Central. It also opposed any form of micro-zoning, saying such would undermine peace and stability in the party.
Mohammed, reacting in Abuja, said the PDP leadership and stakeholders would not allow individuals or groups to derail the party’s unity and discipline.
“We cannot continue to keep quiet and allow people to take us to the slaughterhouse. Enough is enough. We are not cowards and we are not afraid of anybody,” he said.
He expressed confidence in the pedigree and capacity of the Convention Committee leadership and pledged the support of the PDP governors for the National Working Committee.
According to him, the party remains committed to discipline and fairness and will no longer tolerate acts of arrogance and impunity.
The PDP national convention is expected to provide direction for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
