The Executive Chairman of Balanga Local Government Area, Hon. Dr Ibrahim Salisu Population, has procured and installed solar-powered streetlights at the Balanga LGA Secretariat to enhance security and improve administrative operations.
Speaking during the installation exercise on Wednesday, the chairman said the initiative was aimed at mitigating security threats around the secretariat, improving visibility at night, and facilitating a more efficient working environment for government staff.
He explained that the decision to deploy solar lighting was part of a broader development agenda to reposition the local government and project it positively to the wider world.
“Lighting up the secretariat is a step toward creating a safer, more efficient, and globally recognised local government area,” he said.
Since assuming office, Hon. Dr Salisu has prioritised key development areas including economic revitalisation, agriculture, security, youth empowerment, and social welfare.
Stakeholders in the area have commended the initiative, describing it as a landmark achievement and a sign of responsive leadership.
They noted that such visible infrastructural improvements had not been witnessed before in the history of Balanga LGA.
Residents and staff expressed confidence in the administration, noting that the council is on a path of sustained progress under the current leadership.
“Balanga LGA is in safe hands,” one resident said.
