Bauchi Confirms Readiness for Ogun 2025 National Sports Festival

The Bauchi State Government has expressed its preparedness to participate in the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF), scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun State, from May 16 to 30, 2025.

The State Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, disclosed this on Saturday when officials from the State Sports Council and the National Sports Commission paid a courtesy visit to the Government House in Bauchi.

Jatau stated that Governor Bala Mohammed had given full approval for the state’s participation and assured of his administration’s commitment to support the state contingent.

“Bauchi State has been a proud participant in the National Sports Festival since 1976. Over the years, we’ve showcased strength in athletics, football, hockey, boxing, and basketball,” the deputy governor said.

He expressed optimism over the state’s chances at the games, citing previous medal-winning performances and ongoing government investment in youth and sports development.

Jatau commended the National Sports Commission and the Festival Committee for leveraging sports to promote national unity and cohesion.

Earlier, Mrs Mbora Ikana, Team Leader of the Movement of the Torch of Unity for the 22nd NSF, confirmed the dates and venue of the festival, applauding Governor Mohammed for his consistent support for sports development.

She assured the state of the Commission’s readiness to collaborate in enhancing Bauchi’s sporting profile.

The National Sports Festival is Nigeria’s foremost multi-sport event, bringing together athletes from across the federation to foster unity and nurture talent.
