The Bauchi state government has on Monday announced the imposition of a 24-hour curfew on Katagum Local Government Area due to the deteriorating security situation in Azare and its environments. The security situation has led to destruction of public property, stealing, victimization, among others.
According to a press release signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Muhammad Kashim, the decision was necessary to contain the situation.
The Governor, Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has directed all security agencies to take action and ensure that the hoodlums are caught and brought to justice.
The state government has called on law-abiding citizens to cooperate with security agencies at this trying moment. The curfew is effective immediately, and citizens are advised to stay indoors until further notice.
