Bauchi Group Demands Expulsion of Factional PDP Leaders

A political advocacy group within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, the G6 Vanguard, has called for the expulsion of Haruna Jungudo from the party over alleged indiscipline, anti-party activities and actions said to undermine the party’s unity.

In a statement issued on Monday, the group’s Publicity Secretary, Isyaku Adamu, accused Jungudo of persistently flouting party directives and openly aligning with opposition elements, a development the group said has weakened the PDP at both state and local government levels.

Adamu said the PDP is founded on principles of discipline, loyalty and respect for constituted authority, stressing that no individual should be allowed to sabotage the party’s collective interests.

According to the G6 Vanguard, Jungudo was allegedly involved in activities contrary to the party’s constitution, including working against PDP candidates during elections, sponsoring media campaigns against party leadership and engaging in acts capable of destabilising the party.

The group warned that retaining members whose conduct is detrimental to the party’s growth could threaten its internal cohesion and electoral prospects. It therefore urged the PDP State Working Committee and National Working Committee to invoke disciplinary measures in line with Sections 58 and 59 of the party’s constitution.

“Our demand is simple: the party must act decisively. Jungudo’s behaviour is not only embarrassing but dangerous to the unity of the PDP,” the statement said, calling on party leaders to enforce the rules without favouritism.

The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the PDP and urged members to remain calm while the leadership addresses the issue.

It was gathered that Jungudo was recently named factional caretaker chairman of the PDP in Bauchi State by a camp loyal to former Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. In a statement dated December 5, 2025, the National Organising Secretary of the faction, Umar Batura, announced the appointment of Jungudo and 12 others as members of the Bauchi State Caretaker Committee for a period not exceeding 30 days.

Reacting, Jungudo’s spokesperson, Umar Ahmad, dismissed calls for his expulsion, arguing that those behind the demand lacked the legitimacy to take such action.

Ahmad claimed that the ward executives pushing for Jungudo’s expulsion were invalid, alleging that the chairman of Jama’are ‘A’ Ward, where Jungudo belongs, was ineligible at the time of his election.

“Where will they derive the legitimacy and power to take such decisions?” Ahmad asked, adding that Jungudo had written to the State Working Committee to draw attention to the alleged irregularities.

He further argued that the Bauchi State Working Committee had already been dissolved by the PDP National Working Committee, questioning which body the petitioners intended to approach.

Ahmad insisted that Jungudo remains a bona fide member and chairman of the PDP in the state, stressing that actions by any group claiming PDP membership would not undermine his position.

“They are free to exercise their constitutional rights, but no action taken by such groups will stand under the law,” he said.
