
The Bauchi State Police Command has appointed Superintendent of Police, Nafiu Habib, as its new Police Public Relations Officer.
The appointment was disclosed in a statement issued on Monday by the outgoing spokesperson, Ahmed Wakil, who confirmed that Habib has formally assumed duty at the command headquarters in Bauchi.
Wakil described the new spokesperson as a seasoned and versatile police officer with over 16 years of professional experience across operational, administrative and strategic communication roles within the Nigeria Police Force.
Habib is an alumnus of Bayero University, Kano, where he obtained a Master’s degree in Conflict and Security Studies. He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminology and Security Studies from the National Open University of Nigeria and is a graduate of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano, having completed the Cadet Inspector of Police Course 38/2009.
According to the command, Habib has served in various capacities nationwide, including as Police Public Relations Officer at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil; Deputy PPRO, Kaduna State Command; Managing Editor of the NPA News Bulletin in 2021 and 2022; and as a resource person and lecturer to cadet officers on misconduct and professional ethics.
As he assumes office, Habib pledged to strengthen police–public relations through credible communication, effective information management and community-oriented policing strategies. He assured residents of Bauchi State of his commitment to professionalism, transparency and responsiveness in line with global best practices.
The Bauchi State Police Command called on members of the public, media organisations and other stakeholders to extend their cooperation and support to the new spokesperson in the discharge of his duties.
