The management of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) has dismissed rumors of plans to shut down the institution due to financial constraints. In a statement, the Directorate of Information described the rumors as “fabricated” and “mere gossip.”
The statement, signed by Director Zailani Bappa on wednesday, clarified that no one from the university spoke to DW (Hausa) or issued any information about a potential closure. Bappa urged the public to be cautious of unverified information shared in the name of the university.
This comes after reports surfaced that ATBU might close due to economic hardship. However, the university’s management has reassured students and staff that there are no plans to shut down the institution.
