Two people have lost their lives in a boat mishap at Gamadio village in Numan LGA of Adamawa State.
The victims were identified as a nursing mother and her baby.
The incident occurred when a boat carrying five individuals capsized.
The bodies of the two victims were yet to be recovered as of the time of filing this report.
The chairman of Numan LGC, Mr Christopher Sofore, who confirmed the incident, said the three other people were rescued.
Sofore spoke when a state delegation led by the state deputy governor, Professor Kaletapwa George Farauta, visited Numan.
Professor Farauta challenged relevant agencies to ensure the provision and enforcement of the use of life jackets by canoe users to minimise loss of lives.
She also urged stakeholders to always ensure timely reporting of such incidents to the police and other relevant authorities.
