Borno Airlifts First Batch Of 2025 Hajj Pilgrims

The Borno State Government has airlifted the first batch of intending pilgrims for the 2025 Hajj exercise to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Deputy Governor, Dr. Umar Kadafur, and the Chairman, Borno State Pilgrims Committee 2025, Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan (SAN), bade farewell to the pilgrims on Monday at the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport, Maiduguri.

Dr. Kadafur wished the pilgrims a safe and successful journey, urging them to use the period to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Borno State and Nigeria.

He said the administration of Gov. Babagana Umara Zulum has continued to engage with relevant agencies to ensure a smooth and hitch-free Hajj operation.

In his remarks, Sen. Kaka Shehu Lawan assured that all necessary support and logistics had been provided by the state government to facilitate a successful Hajj for the pilgrims.

He encouraged them to pray for the state and the nation, adding that Gov. Zulum remained committed to strengthening peace and development through ongoing engagements with security agencies and stakeholders.

“As you are aware, His Excellency has visited communities in Marte, Ngala, and others to boost the morale of security personnel and reinforce sustainable livelihoods in conflict-affected areas,” Lawan said.

He also called on the pilgrims to uphold the long-standing reputation of discipline, honesty, and loyalty that Borno pilgrims are known for.

Lawan noted that additional batches would be airlifted soon and wished the first set a safe and spiritually fulfilling Hajj.
