Borno State House of Assembly has passed a supplementary budget of sixty one billion naira sent by Governor Professor Babagana Umara Zulum to enable Government execute developmental projects that will address destructions caused by the recent flood in the state.
This is contained in a statement by Maina Ma’aji Maina Modu, Media & Publicity to the Speaker Borno State House of Assembly, on Tuesday in Maiduguri.
The supplementary budget report was submitted by the Chairman House Committee on Budget and Appropriation and member representing Kaga constituency, Hon.Mustapha Ali Benisheikh.
Speaker Rt Hon.(Dr)Abdulkarim Lawan FCIHD who presided over the sitting directed Clerk of the House Gogo Abdullahi to mention the order of the day for deliberations.
Leader of the House Hon.Dige Mohammed of Kala Balge moved a motion for members to dissolve into committee of supply to consider the report and was seconded by Hon.Audu Mustapha of Magumeri.
On resumption Speaker of the House Rt.Hon.Abdulkarim Lawan who presided the sitting announced that members considered the report of the Committee and approved the proposed supplementary budget of the sixty one Billion naira.
He further announced that the total breakdown of donations of relief fund stood at twenty billion naira from the state government and forty one billion naira from MDAs making the total of sixty one billion naira.
Adjourned for Thursday tenth of this month.
Meanwhile the Speaker Rt.Hon.AbdulKarim Lawan flanked by members visited the Borno State Assembly Service Commission which was remodeled.
In a remark Chairman of the Commission, Ali Bulama Yajiwa appreciated Governor Zulum for approving funds for the renovation and thanked the state assembly for the support.
