Borno Assembly Receives Zulum’s Nominees for Procurement Bureau, Health Law Amendment

The Borno State House of Assembly has received an executive communication from Governor Babagana Umara Zulum requesting the confirmation of nominees for the Borno State Bureau for Public Procurement.

The communication, read during Thursday’s plenary by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Abdulkarim Lawan, FCIHCD, also included a proposed amendment to the College of Health Technology Law.

The six nominees for the Procurement Bureau, as presented by the governor, are:

Borno Central: Alhaji Abba Kaka, Lawan Maina Saleh

Southern Borno: Mai Idris Jalo, Mr. Y. Yanga

Borno North: Aliyu Kyari, Mele Mohammed

The Speaker conveyed the governor’s appreciation to lawmakers for their continued cooperation and the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government.

In addition to the confirmation request, the House received a bill seeking to amend Section Three of the College of Health Technology Law to rename the institution as the Comrade Ali Chiroma College of Health Technology.

Both the executive communication and the amendment bill were referred to the House Committee on Governor’s Office and the House Committee on Health for further legislative action.

Speaking on behalf of their committees, Hon. Kotoko Ali Kotoko (Chairman, Governor’s Office Committee) and Hon. Dige Mohammed (Co-Chairman, Health Committee) assured the House that their respective reports will be presented at the next sitting.

The legislative session was concluded with a reaffirmation of the House’s commitment to transparency, good governance, and strengthening institutional frameworks in the state.
