The Borno State Government, under the leadership of Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, has approved free eye surgeries for citizens as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery in the state.
This was disclosed in a public announcement on Monday by the Borno State Hospital Management Board, inviting residents to take advantage of the initiative through scheduled screenings at designated health facilities.
The screening exercise is slated to hold from January 9th to 11th, 2025, at the following locations:
1. Umoru Shehu Ultra-Modern Hospital, Bulumkuttu
2. Brigadier Abba Kyari Memorial Hospital, Ngarannam (Bolori 2)
3. Maryam Abatcha Women and Children Hospital, Mashamari
4. Maiduguri Eye Hospital (for both screenings and surgeries)
Speaking on the initiative, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital Management Board, Prof. Abubakar Ali Kullima, urged residents with eye-related ailments to participate in the exercise.
The program reflects Governor Zulum’s commitment to improving access to quality healthcare, particularly for vulnerable groups across the state.
