
The Borno State Government has approved contracts worth over ₦20 billion for the construction of a nine-span flyover at the Post Office area in Maiduguri and a six-span bridge across River Ngadda along Maiduguri-Biu Road.
The Commissioner for Works and Housing, Engr. Mustapha Gubio, signed the agreements on behalf of the state government on Thursday, while representatives of EEC International Limited and Dan Nani Construction and Transportation Services signed for their respective companies.
Gubio stated that the Post Office flyover project, valued at over ₦15.9 billion, has a completion period of ten months, while the River Ngadda bridge, costing over ₦4.5 billion, is expected to be completed within four months.
He emphasized that the contractors were selected based on their competence and the outcome of a competitive bidding process. He urged them to adhere strictly to the contract terms to ensure high-quality work and timely delivery.
The contract signing was attended by key government officials, including the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Ali Baware, Special Adviser to the Governor on Works, Engr. Kori Shettima, and Directors from the ministry.
The projects are expected to enhance transportation infrastructure and ease traffic congestion in Maiduguri.
