The lawmaker representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Dr. Midala Usman Balami, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Balami announced his resignation on Sunday in a letter dated and addressed to the Chairman of the PDP in Bwalahizhi Ward, Hawul Local Government Area of Borno State, with copies sent to the party’s chairmen at the local government and state levels.
In the letter, the federal lawmaker said his decision followed extensive consultations with leaders across political parties, as well as discussions with friends, family members and associates.
He attributed his resignation to the lingering internal crisis and persistent factional divisions within the PDP, which he said have continued to weaken the party’s unity and effectiveness.
Balami, however, expressed gratitude to the PDP and its leadership for the opportunity and platform given to him, noting that his time in the party contributed significantly to his personal growth and commitment to public service.
He also appreciated party members for their support, cooperation and the experiences he gained while in the PDP.
The lawmaker stated that his resignation takes immediate effect and urged the party leadership to accept the letter as his formal notice of withdrawal.
Balami is a serving member of the House of Representatives, representing Askira-Uba/Hawul Federal Constituency in Borno State.
