A 50-year-old man, Modu Isa, has been rescued after attempting to take his life in Bama, Borno State.
The incident occurred on Friday evening at Hausari Ward, Bama, when Isa reportedly stabbed himself three times in the stomach before cutting off his penis with a knife.
Witnesses told our correspondent that the action followed his estranged wife’s refusal to return to him. The woman, identified as Bayanxe Modu from Konduga, had been divorced by Isa three times in the past.
Community members who rushed to his aid said he was immediately taken to General Hospital, Bama, where he is currently responding to treatment.
Sources further disclosed that the matter has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Maiduguri, for further investigation.
